This is one of the pair of black widow spiders that are living partially under the wall on either side of our front door.

One of them has lived there since last year. We just looked at him every once in a while and let him be. The addition of his friend/offspring has become a litte more disturbing to me. I have visions of them collaborating and springing some kind of coordinated double flank attack.
