We thought that after the rains and the flooding last night that there was no way there were any more kittens.

This morning mommy cat wasn’t in her box so I thought I would walk down the street to the drain that we thought her babies were in. I heard them mewling. I ran back to the house, burst through the front door and yelled, “Kittens! Kittens!”. Andy went to the truck and grabbed some tools to remove the manhole and we ran back to the drain. He pulled it off and went down into the scary dark drain. While I was running back to the car to grab the flashlight, Mommy cat and two babies ran right to him (Andy’s magnetic like that).

Why she left them down there during a flood is a mystery, but I guess she had her reasons. She must have done a good job, because they were perfectly dry.

I was planning on going to the gym this afternoon, but rescuing and coo cooing over kittens is so much more fun.
