What do you do when you have a bunch of stuff to organize, a five month trip into the wilderness to plan and the more math oriented half of this duo has some very important computer programming to do? Why, go on a kayak trip of course.

New gear A+. We stayed warm, packed the right amount of food and felt very spiffy with our ultra light packs. Our friend Mandy planned the trip for us and some of the other people from her work. She works on the show Jersey Boys. I was expecting (hoping) for some breaking out into song while we all soaked in the natural hot springs, but when I mentioned it somewhat of a collective groan was heard. What? Actors don’t like singing and dancing 24 hours a day, especially the singing the same songs they have to sing for seven shows a week, year round. I’m shocked.

I was worried that it was going to be freezing and that the two day trip would put us behind schedule then of course all hell would break loose and everything would never be okay again. But, as it turns out I had a great time and everything is fine.

We have a offer and a downpayment on the RV. I’m happy to see it go to people that really like it, but a little sad at the end of an era. It’s just too bad that RV’s just don’t fit in with the ultra light lifestyle that we seem to be gravitating to.

We spent a day cleaning it all out and then spent the next week going through the junk we forgot we owned. I’m at the point now where most things with value have been sold and I’m just listing the rest on freecycle and Craigslist>free stuff and putting it out the back door for pickup.

We’re leaving for Hawaii on Feb. 10th for ten days of back country training.
