I Love Jesus, But I Drink a Little

I’m leaving San Diego today but not before making a basic granola recipe that will the base from which we will eat about 180 breakfasts. Andy doesn’t tolerate oats well so I made it with quinoa flakes. Before I bought a 25 lb. bag, I thought I should do a test run. I’m smart like that.

It was Christmas in San Diego. The mass amounts of freeze dried food that I ordered all arrived. I tore open the boxes like an excited five year old. I was surprised that no one else (my mom and friend Nova) thought that mass quantites of dried food wasn’t the most exciting thing on the planet.

There were torso sized bags of strawberries and bananas, silver pouches of sour cream powder, cheesy macaroni and clear garbage bags full of flash frozen peaches, mangoes and blueberries.

Now I’m really getting excited about our start date. It’s been pushed up from the end of April to the beginning. This year, the snowfall in the Sierras has been at record lows. The news isn’t good for San Diego who will have to ration water this summer. This news is great for people who weren’t looking forward to trudging through and sleeping in the semi solid state of San Diego’s future water supply.

The earlier we start the more time we can rest or the faster we’ll be getting to Northern California, Oregon and Washington which hopefully means better weather. I’m nervous, excited and done with this entry.

Please enjoy this you tube video that has nothing to do with the PCT, but made me laugh.

I love Jesus, but I drink a little.
