Nearly ready for launch
We’re in San Diego. I feel like that’s about all I can muster up for the writing. Everything in Vegas is sold and we’re left with a few boxes of clothes and gear.
We just got back from Mexico for Fuente Eterno. Basically a four day camping trip with 500 Burning Man devotees and other various harmless freaks and geeks. I’ll just say my brain hurts and leave it at that.
Pictures might do the job better than any words can right now, and, if you’re really interested, here’s the 2008 pictures.
My mom was freaking out that we had decided to go to Mexico. There has been a huge problem with drug related gang violence in the past year. Although only in the area around Tijuana and no reported harm has come to tourists from any country. We were about three hundred miles from Tijuana and crossed at the Mexicali border. I tried to explain that her being worried was like someone from Mexico hearing that there was drug related gang violence in LA so decided it was unsafe to go to Las Vegas. Don’t get me wrong, it’s always important to be cautious crossing the border but really, think about things a little.
We’ve spent the last couple of days ordering more food and the last of our gear. We have a car to sell and spent most of the day today looking for the keys that I didn’t remember that I had given to my friend to hold. The storage unit is organized and ready for food boxes to begin to be packed and labeled. It all depends on how the weather goes in March, but it could be less than a month until we leave. I think I’m feeling excited but this feeling could be mild panic, it’s really hard to tell.
