We were supposed to leave today. There are two things that made us postpone our launch until tomorrow. One, we wanted to have one day to calm down a little from running around and two, we received a snow report letting us know that the section of our hike after Warner Springs is going to be dicey for awhile. Snow and ice….I try not to think about it much. We knew that the second reason was a strong possibility and were prepared to make allowances. It’s very possible that we’ll hike 120 miles and then come back to San Diego for a few days, let the pass clear and then get dropped off where we left off.

We’re starting the trail earlier than many hikers because wanted options and also, we wanted to be ahead of the herd a little. A bulk of the hikers start at the kickoff the weekend of April 25th. We didn’t want to worry about falling behind a little and have a mass of hikers swarm the tiny towns and raid all of the supplies before we got there. We also wanted to give ourselves a little extra time to lag if we felt like it. Not to mention, we’re just really sick of planning and packing. Our feets just want to walk!

The car sale is possibly going through today and the websites need a little TLC. Mr. Blair is in the shower. I just got out and savored every drop of one of my last hot showers in my near future.

After we walk down the street for breakfast we’re springing (maybe a little slowly, but springing just the same) into (calm and relaxed) action.
