Posted via email from Cindigo’s Posterous Posted via email from Cindigo’s Posterous The hitch wasn’t as hard as we thought. We’re off into the wild. We won’t have cell but will continue to update via sat phone. It’s not on our itinerary, but our next stop will be Mammoth Lakes. We’re waiting for the bus to take us back to Independence so we can pick up our mail drop. Andy got some nice new trail running shoes, we bought cheap sunglasses and just came from lunch where I quite possibly consumed two sticks of butter with three pieces of bread. We optimistically thought we would [...] I’m sending this message from the back of a pick up truck on the way to Bishop. The post office won’t be open until Monday so we’re taking the time to go to a bigger town to get Andy new shoes. We have some great pics and video to upload. We saw our first bears [...] We’ve been hiking a lot with Big John since Hiker Heaven in Agua Dulce. He’s a great guy who also happens to have designed one of the most unique and cool backpacks I’ve seen, the Moonbow. Check it out at www.moonbowgear.com if you get a chance. My first attempt at hitching without my secret weapon Cindigo went remarkably well. I stepped off of the trail at Walker Pass and in about 5 seaconds an amazing guy named Rocky pulled over. Rocky has hiked the John Muir something like six times and had lots of great stories to tell. He dropped me [...] This is the most aggresive horny toad I’ve seen, and I’ve seen a lot of them! It’s hard to tell from the picture, but he was actually lunging at the camera. This was a pretty brutal climb at the end of a day, but it’ a nice view. I slept great last night. Almost 10 hours! The trails getting prettier, but it might be a hot day. More wind turbines! Last night was really windy. And pretty cold. Not very fun, but it did force me out of bed for an early start to warm up. I know this is a lot of windmill pictures, but they’re just very cool. The windmills have a soothing sound that makes me want to stay. This is a good place for a wind farm. It’s windy here! We’re leaving Mojave after a later than we wanted start and a on the fly dog rescue. Someone dumped this adorable puppy and it followed us. Art, who we met at the post office took the dog, now named Cindy in my honor, but it’s not an ideal situation for Art or the puppy. After [...] Another sweet wind farm in the distance. We’re almost done for the day. Tomorrow, Mojave and Taco Bell! This cabin, about 50 feet off of the PCT is almost completely wallpapered with hard-core pornography on the inside! Thanks to the anonoymous hiker that left the bags of oatmeal and raisins in the hiker boxes. I’m really looking forward to breakfast. Andy is 100% and we’re both extremely relieved and happy. Depending on where we decide to hitch into town, it’s either 20 0r 28 miles into Mojave. We’ll probably do the 28 [...] I can’t tell you how good it is to have an appetite again. We’ve made it to the aquaduct and instead of the usual 95 and sunny, it’s 70 and drizzling. Awesome. I’d like to thank those responsible for helping me to get the meds. I’m not naming names, since I’m sure some regulations were overlooked in the process! I’d also like to thank Big Pharmacutical for developing Tindamax, my new favorite antibiotic. We’re leaving Hikertown. We’ll miss it a lot, but the weather is to great [...] Posted via email from Cindigo’s Posterous Posted via email from Cindigo’s Posterous The magical healing power of kittens. |
