I made it to Denver. In two days! This is quite an accomplishment from someone that is not a huge fan of driving and generally likes to stop every forty five minutes. I think the trail really made me appreciate automobile travel. I have been taught a deep patience for the time it takes for getting one place to another. Really after walking for two and a half months to get 850 miles, driving for 16 hours seems like a piece of cake.
Right now, we’re staying at a weekly hotel. Not the best neighborhood or the most glorious accommodations, but everything is clean and wifi is included. And, who are we kidding, we’ve been sleeping on the ground sometimes in the mud. This place is AWESOME!
I’m really sorry that I haven’t been replying to some of your comments and have been lax on the email. I’m reading them and selfishly appreciating them and not responding.
I’ve joined a bunch of groups on meetup and am planning to keep up the gym so the skinny (well, less puffy) legs I earned on the trail will stay that way. Andy has been playing live poker at the casinos and online. He’s having a pretty good time. This is somewhat surprising since up to a very short time ago he was very adamant about not liking poker anymore. Actually, he would almost make a face like he was tasting something really bad when the subject was brought up. When I asked him about his turn around he just shrugged. I understand. This is how we are.
