Captain and a Dog Haired Couch

Today is our first day in our new apartment. There was much more dog hair left from the tenets we were subletting from than we thought. This is terrible for Vlad’s allergies.
Our drunken solution. Which, by the way, probably wouldn’t be much different than our sober solution.

Jasmine

jasmine tea flower 2,
originally uploaded by cindigodotcom.

This morning I was driving to the UPS store to dump off some of the last ebay packages. I turned left at a light and then had to make an immediate right into a strip mall. There was a pedestrian crossing the driveway entrance so I had to wait, [...]

Brought to you from Stella’s coffee house that doesn’t restrict my download capabilities…unlike some “luxury” weekly hotels.

I am Slacker.
Not really, but, really. The website is suffering, but my real life is flourishing. That’s probably the most healthy of things, but I do miss living my life on the interwebs.
Andy is in Green Bay visiting his parents. I dropped him off at the airport at five this morning. It was inspiring to [...]

All of our wordly possessions

.
.
.
The first week in Denver has gone really well. Andy seems happy playing poker and running around his old stomping grounds, while I have started filling up my social calendar with all kinds of shenanigins from the internets.
We got a storage space yesterday and liberated our possessions from our Boulder friends that have kindly and [...]

Brought to you by the luxurious Inn Suites

I made it to Denver. In two days! This is quite an accomplishment from someone that is not a huge fan of driving and generally likes to stop every forty five minutes. I think the trail really made me appreciate automobile travel. I have been taught a deep patience for the time it takes for [...]

I was feeling bad about all the stuff we organized and packed that now I have to tear appart and figure out what to do with. Instead, I’m feeling awesome that we put 100% effort into everything we do. So be it that boxes need diassembling. When we decide to do something, we jump in [...]

The hitch wasn’t as hard as we thought. We’re off into the wild. We won’t have cell but will continue to update via sat phone. It’s not on our itinerary, but our next stop will be Mammoth Lakes.

We’re waiting for the bus to take us back to Independence so we can pick up our mail drop. Andy got some nice new trail running shoes, we bought cheap sunglasses and just came from lunch where I quite possibly consumed two sticks of butter with three pieces of bread. We optimistically thought we would [...]

Down from the mountain

I’m sending this message from the back of a pick up truck on the way to Bishop. The post office won’t be open until Monday so we’re taking the time to go to a bigger town to get Andy new shoes. We have some great pics and video to upload. We saw our first bears [...]

Big John

We’ve been hiking a lot with Big John since Hiker Heaven in Agua Dulce. He’s a great guy who also happens to have designed one of the most unique and cool backpacks I’ve seen, the Moonbow.  Check it out at www.moonbowgear.com if you get a chance.

Lake Isabella

My first attempt at hitching without my secret weapon Cindigo went remarkably well. I stepped off of the trail at Walker Pass and in about 5 seaconds an amazing guy named Rocky pulled over.  Rocky has hiked the John Muir something like six times and had lots of great stories to tell. He dropped me [...]

Angry Horny Toad

This is the most aggresive horny toad I’ve seen, and I’ve seen a lot of them!  It’s hard to tell from the picture, but he was actually lunging at the camera.

6/9/09 Good Morning

I slept great last night. Almost 10 hours!  The trails getting prettier, but it might be a hot day.

Windy

Last night was really windy.  And pretty cold. Not very fun, but it did force me out of bed for an early start to warm up.

Puppy 911

We’re leaving Mojave after a later than we wanted start and a on the fly dog rescue. Someone dumped this adorable puppy and it followed us. Art, who we met at the post office took the dog, now named Cindy in my honor, but it’s not an ideal situation for Art or the puppy. After [...]

Wind Farm

Another sweet wind farm in the distance.  We’re almost done for the day. Tomorrow, Mojave and Taco Bell!

Strangely Enough

This cabin, about 50 feet off of the PCT is almost completely wallpapered with hard-core pornography on the inside!
